Andy Buss – Pro Fisher

Champlain 6

Andy Buss:

With strengths in communication and building relationships, Andy Buss fulfills many leadership roles that strengthen his influence both in the classroom and the fishing boat. Thirteen years of teaching has brought him great satisfaction and success being nominated three times for “Most Inspirational Teacher” and three times as finalist for “Teacher of the Year.” With a degree in English, he has used his skills of writing to be published numerous times including MidWest Outdoors and Indiana Game & Fish.

As a competitive angler for 14 years, he has competed in local fishing events in preparation for professional events. Having experienced success in this field on bodies of water ranging between Lake Michigan, Lake James, and every place in between, he took the plunge into professional fishing by finishing 23 out of 180 professional anglers on Lake Champlain in Eastern New York during the summer of 2014. His goal for 2015 is to compete in all three BASS Northern Open professional tournaments and two dozen local tournaments. He also directs the largest of local tournaments trails, the R & B Bass Circuit. In just five years, Buss created the largest team bass fishing circuit in the state.

Buss was born and raised in New Carlisle, IN and now lives in North Liberty, IN with his wife Nicki, daughter Alyssa, and sons Preston and Jordan.

“My greatest strengths are communication and building relationships, and because of this I fulfill many leadership roles that strengthen my influence.

Teacher: 13 years in the classroom has brought me great satisfaction and success. Three times I have been nominated “Most Inspirational Teacher” and three times was a finalist for “Teacher of the Year.” In addition:

• As a rookie teacher, I took over a Yearbook club with a $15,000 debt. In just two years, I was able to create a $2,000 surplus. I know how to promote and raise money.

• I have taught English classes to regular education and advanced classes for grades 7-12 plus coached basketball to both boys and girls. I relate well with children, teenagers, parents, grandparents—adults of all ages.

• For various charities, I helped raise money by literally being taped to the wall (right), performing the Chicken Dance (streamed online), and even wore a dress. For good causes, I am willing to put myself in humbling situations.

Being “Stuck for a Buck” raised money for leukemia lymphoma.

Competitive Angler: For over a dozen years I have competed in local fishing events in preparation for professional events. As evidenced in the photos above, I have experienced much success. During the 2014 summer I took the plunge into professional fishing by finishing 23 out of 180 professional anglers on Lake Champlain in Eastern New York. My goal for 2015 is to compete in all three BASS Northern Open professional tournaments and two dozen local tournaments. Professional anglers are admired by outdoorsmen; this gives more influence and will be used to promote you to thousands.”
